This was the only way I could get rid of the robocalls, which, even with nomorobo, would otherwise make one ring sound (10x/day). I keep the landline Line 1 just so that anyone here could call out in an emergency, even without a cell phone. I agree that DND perhaps could have been better explained and designed (even some Verizon reps don't understand it, as I found out today).

Setting this feature on before you start driving will be a very quick and simple process, and by taking 2 seconds to engage the setting, it may just save your life. Once you’ve reached your destination, you can turn the feature off again and receive incoming texts and calls. On some phones you can even schedule the period each day where you want the DND feature to be turned on, for instance if you drive to work at the same time every day. DND does not work properly with exempt numbers if you have DND set to send calls to Voice Mail - it sends all calls to voice mail. To describe the problem simply - the system is forwarding calls to Voice Mail before it checks the exempt numbers list.

I don’t think it’s a mistake - it might be supposed to work this way. The reason (well they could still leave a message so it’s not an emergency that they have to get the phone to ring). You have to check your messages daily in case there’s something important on it. Also, there’s a 4-digit override code - you have to give it to the people you want to have it.

A “” may appear at the beginning of some incoming calls on your caller ID, voicemail logs or TV screen. This will indicate that the call is coming from a phone number where Verizon is able to verify the calling number. If you have turned on Do Not Disturb mode, incoming calls will be sent directly to voicemail and will not be screened aloud on your Ooma device. You can still see when you have a new voicemail message by checking whether the button is orange on your Telo Base Station or Phone Genie.

When you turn on “Do not disturb”, your calls go directly to voicemail. You still receive text messages like you normally would and you still receive notifications for missed calls without your phone ringing. If you turn on "Do not disturb", your calls go directly to voicemail.
This is great if you want to remain available for family or certain important calls. But remember, if you DO NEED TO ANSWER, please pull safely off the road. If you’re an iPhone owner, say for the Apple iPhone 10 or 11 models, you can enable the DND feature in one of two ways.

Scammers and other bad actors often use spoofing to alter the name or number on your Caller ID to get you to answer their calls. To help you identify a potentially fraudulent call, we’ve enhanced our Caller ID feature. This “” symbol will appear on the phone screen, TV screen, call log or voicemail when you’ve received a Verified call.

The action taken by law enforcement may vary by area.

It’s okay if you want to be left alone without the potential distraction of the phone ringing. By forwarding all incoming calls directly to voicemail, Do Not Disturb will help you keep your attention wherever it belongs when you’re just too busy to take a call. LARGE 2-INCH SCREEN, BIG TEXT, LIGHTED KEY PAD High-contrast text on the extra-large 2 inch screen makes it easy to read incoming caller ID or call history records.
The phone prompts you to select the number of hours (1 – 9 or Always On) that you want it to stay in silent mode. Call Intercept is not available for rotary dial service. One very popular DND app for Android users is the Nights Keeper app, which blocks all incoming texts and calls other than those on a ‘white list’ of contacts you prepare beforehand. In general, this is the theme of most of the third-party DND apps, because they will permit you to establish situational exceptions to the DND capability.
I did not mean to say call forwarding, which I do not use on either Line 1 or Line 2. So you have a choice - either send all calls to voice mail, or else totally blow off all calls from all numbers except those on your exempt list . Owners of Google’s Pixel 2 or 3 model cellphones will also have the Do Not Disturb feature available to them, and can find out about its usage by browsing throughthis article. Click the button and you will have more options from which to choose. In this image, the iPhone has the DND option scheduled between 10pm and 7am. By following the voice-recorded instructions, you can add the number of the last person who called you, add a new number, or change an existing number on your list. The voice-recorded instructions will also tell you how to add to your list if your list is full. This does not mean that calls without a “” are scam calls as Verizon can only verify a call if the caller is using a network that has the same capabilities as Verizon’s network. Also, Verizon can not guarantee the intent of callers that are verified. Always be wary of unknown calls, but this is another tool to give you more control over the calls you answer. On the S10, a user can allow exceptions for the DND setting.
To get reminders that are in DND, check the box for “Play Ring Reminder when a call is blocked” and then click OK. Basically, the do not disturb mode turns your device completely silent. On the other hand, the airplane mode has nothing to do with vibrations or sounds.
